Measure a reference item
For a top, lay a similar garment flat without stretching it. Measure the chest from armpit to armpit, body length from the stated shoulder or neck point, shoulder width and sleeve length. For trousers, note waist, rise, thigh, inseam and leg opening.
Write down how you measured. Flat chest width is not the same as a full chest circumference. Elastic waists can be listed relaxed or stretched; compare the same state. A number is useful only when its definition matches the chart.
Match method and units
| Reference | Listing | What the comparison means |
|---|---|---|
| Illustrative flat chest: 56 cm | Illustrative flat chest: 58 cm | 2 cm more across that measurement, not a universal size-up rule |
| Illustrative inseam: 76 cm | Chart gives total length only | Ask for inseam; the two values are not interchangeable |
| Foot length in centimeters | Chart uses a numbered size | Use that listing’s size-to-foot-length guidance |
The figures are teaching examples, not measurements of products in our sheet. Allow for the listing’s stated measurement tolerance and your preference for ease.
Check shoes separately
Measure both feet while standing, using the longer foot as the starting point. Check the seller’s chart for how it defines foot length and recommended size. An insole length may differ from the space your foot can use, so do not substitute it without clarification.
Toe shape, width, lining and intended sock thickness all affect fit. Two pairs with the same printed size can feel different. If width is important and the listing has no guidance, ask before ordering instead of assuming a numbered conversion solves it.
Recheck after the item arrives
At the warehouse stage, inspect size labels and any available measurements for the selected item. A correctly printed label does not prove the dimensions match your intended fit. If a decisive measurement is missing, ask whether the service can provide it and what it costs.
Resolve an important sizing discrepancy before international dispatch. Keep the original chart, selected option and reference measurements so the question can be answered precisely.
Keep this checklist
- Measure a similar item that fits.
- Match units and measurement definitions.
- Use the exact product’s chart.
- Check the received option before international shipping.
