Illustration for LoloBuy Clothing Guide: Compare Measurements

Choose the right reference garment

Use a garment with a similar intended cut. Comparing a fitted tank to an oversized tee will tell you little about the fit you want. Lay the reference flat and record chest width, body length, shoulder width and sleeve length where relevant.

For sleeveless items, check the opening shape and strap or shoulder coverage as well as width. For polos and long-sleeve tops, check collar details and sleeve or cuff measurements if they affect the way you plan to wear the item.

Read the chart as a set

MeasurementWhat to ask when it is unclear
ChestFlat width or body circumference?
LengthMeasured from which shoulder or neck point?
ShoulderSeam to seam, and does the cut drop the shoulder?
SleeveFrom shoulder seam or from neck?

A chart with only a height-and-weight recommendation gives less information than garment dimensions. Ask for the missing measurement if it decides your purchase.

An example comparison

Illustrative example: your reference tee is 55 cm across the chest and 70 cm long. A candidate is listed at 58 cm and 68 cm using the same method. It is wider but shorter; choosing a larger size solely for extra length may also add more width.

Write that difference in the shortlist before making a choice. The example numbers are not a recommendation for a particular product or body size. Your preference for ease, fabric stretch and garment shape still matters.

Check fabric and the received option

Read any material, stretch, lining and care information on the current listing. A photograph cannot reliably tell you fabric weight or shrinkage behavior. Avoid treating a brand-style label or a seller’s photo as proof of composition.

At the warehouse stage, compare the visible size label, color and print or construction details with your chosen option. If fit is uncertain, ask whether an actual garment measurement is available before shipping internationally.

Keep this checklist

  • Compare to the same garment type.
  • Match measurement methods.
  • Read width and length together.
  • Keep the selected size chart for later comparison.
